The Jittas

Updated: Jan 3, 2020

I can now stand with authority and say as Joshua said to Israel “but as for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord” Joshua 24:15.

Both my wife, Joella, and I grew up going to church, but our experiences were different. I was a part of a smaller church and played active roles in services as the opportunities presented themselves. Jo was part of a larger church and was also active, but opportunities were not as forthcoming due to the sheer size of the organization. Her dad was a prominent member of another faith and thus her mom carried her to church. Jo attended Sunday school and church services regularly and gave her heart to Christ at the age of 8 and was baptised not long after that. She always had a passion for singing for the Lord.

Both of my parents are Christian and took me to church since birth. I gave my heart to Christ at about the same age as Jo and was baptised at the age of 12. I enjoyed reading the scriptures and learning of God’s love. It was not until our teens that Jo and I met at her church and became good friends. As we grew in Christ our relationship also blossomed, leading to courtship and eventually we were married. Our two greatest blessings came in the following years, Jo-marie and Giada, our two beautiful daughters. Our life commitments caused our church commitments to meander as is often the case. Secular education, promotions at the job and other things became more of the priority than church. We became “intermittent Christians”, the Sunday morning type just going through the motions as time went by. Our flame had gone cold, but we still prayed and tried to live a righteous life.

Jo and I had always known we were meant to be doing more for the Kingdom of Christ and began praying more about it and even began doing a Christian education course. We began to heat up once more, but then other life issues came up and we went back to being cold. It was around this time we came to know of “J Love” via our Pastor, Dr. Erron Ramdass. His relentless passion for God and his vision for the church was an inspiration to my entire family. Being here has rekindled our flame for Christ, we have seen improvement in our personal lives as a family as we put God first, as it is written “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all his righteousness and all these things shall be added onto you” Matthew 6:33.

J Love focuses on building people and families geared towards the furtherance of God’s Kingdom. As a family we have grown from strength to strength with the full support of our church. Each member of the family now displays a passion for God’s work, looking forward to entering the House of the Lord at any time. Our youngest daughter loves to tell her friends about God’s love whilst our eldest, Jo-Marie, also enjoys telling people about Jesus and testifying of the joy He has brought to her life. Jo and I are very pleased with the way our children are developing; finding their identity and purpose in God. Our flame for Christ has been reignited by J Love and now burns stronger than ever. I can now stand with authority and say as Joshua said to Israel “but as for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord” Joshua 24:15.
